I have lived in the Great American West my entire life. I grew up in Wyoming learning to appreciate wide open spaces, the great outdoors and all it has to offer, in every season. I have resided in Northeastern Nevada for the past twelve years. I feel lucky to live in the shadow of the beautiful Ruby Mountains with my husband, Wayde, our two sons, two dogs, and two cats.
I am formally educated as a chemical engineer and have spent my career in the gold mining industry. Two years ago, I was fortunate enough to "semi-retire" and stay at home with our boys. This is when my interest in photography really sparked. I realized that our family participates in so many activities that really mesh with photography. I received my first dSLR for Christmas in 2005. I took a course from our college, a couple of on-line classes, read book after book, and practiced.... a lot.
I have not found a specific area of photography that I would like to focus on just yet. I am enjoying learning all aspects, and the technology is changing at such an exponential rate, I am sure there will never be a day where I don't discovery something new. That said, many of my images are scenic, or of wildlife, as our area really lends itself to these things.
I have recently upgraded to a Canon 40d, after using my Rebel xt to pieces, literally. I have lenses across the range of 10-400mm, including: Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6, Canon 50mm f1.4, Canon 17-85mm f4-5.6, Sigma 70-200mm f2.8, Sigma 80-400mm f4-5.6.
Some of the other things that my family and I enjoy are; camping, hiking, snowmobiling, waterskiing, fishing, boating, and volleyball.
